Once your application has been approved, and if you're over 18 years old, you will receive an invitation letter from ´óÐãÊÓƵ County Council’s Registration Service.

This letter will invite you to attend a Citizenship Ceremony.

Completing the Questionnaire

The invitation letter includes a questionnaire that you need to fill out. The questionnaire will ask if you prefer to swear or affirm the oath and whether you will have any guests at the ceremony.

You will also be given a choice between two possible dates for your ceremony.

Making a payment

If you need to make a payment related to your citizenship ceremony, use the provided link in your invitation email. Ensure you enter the reference code from your email before proceeding with the payment.

Where are ceremonies held?

Ceremonies are usually held once a month.

If you would prefer an individual or family ceremony this can be requested.

What happens during the ceremony?

The ceremony includes a welcoming speech. 

You will then swear or affirm the oath of allegiance to His Majesty the King and pledge loyalty to the UK.

After this, you’ll receive your citizenship certificate, officially making you a British citizen.

´óÐãÊÓƵ County Council cannot replace or correct your citizenship certificate.
